Bought a 7130e; noticed one dead pixel on the center of the screen. Also has a light scratch in the center of the screen, which I'm pretty sure wasn't there when I got it - brand new.

I called up and played up the dead pixel angle. I'm in my 30 days. They said I could bring it to a Verizon store to swap or they could ship me a refurb. Refurb still has the full warranty, so I went for that. I figured the store route might reject me based on the scratch. Or does that not matter if I'm within my 30 days?

I already picked up a screen protector for the replacement. I think I'm just going to get the refurb. Based on the feedback here, the refurbs are solid. Plus, I still get the full warranty.

Most carriers go to great pains to assure that their refurbished units are technically and cosmetically sound. In some cases, the testing of these is more extensive than it is for new units. you made a good choice.

Thanks. I figured I could live with the scratch as it's very light, but I know in reality it would always irk me and I would eventually try to replace the screen myself. If I can replace it, why not? I extended my contract for 2 years to get this phone, so I want it to be solid.

I wish I could. I'm anal about it. I will go out of my way to look for it. Just assume swap it and slap a screen protector on from the getgo. I should have done that originally.

Thing is, I'm not anal about swapping the screen protector. That could be beat to hell - dirty and what not - and it wouldn't bother me so much because I would know the original screen underneath is okay.
