I have a question. Supposedly I am in another country that has no data network (only phone network) and will I be able to use a pin to correspond with my wife in America. That's what I have been thinking. Both of us have a Data Plan. I looked up on searches and some of them said it's a phone system. Other said data network system.

Nope. Both BB's have to be on a data network too. GSM or gprs or edge isn't enough. You need GPRS or EDGE

John Clark is correct - without a data network (or data plan) the best you'll have is SMS.

Do PIN messages cost anything?

Not in themselves, but they take a small portion of a data plan. If the plan is limited and you go over your data limit, then they will cost. Otherwise the data is just deducted from your limited amount

PIN to PIN gets you a D above the checkmark when it's delivered.
Btw, the old 950 would also give you an R when it was opened. I wonder why they discontinued that.

With the newer OS versions and/or newer versions of BB messenger, I've noticed this as well...

Now it shows check marks to indicate the status of the pin msg. The 1st check indicates that the msg has been sent, once a second check appears the message has been delivered, and you will notice a 3rd check mark when the message has been read.

Hope this helps.
