I installed it but my blackberry wouldn't recognize that it could update. I have the telstra load on it now. and yes i have removed vendor.xml and removed the vendor codes from the blackberry.alx file that came with it...

anything else I need to do?

Will this work on my 8700G?

I can't seem to find the instructions for making it work.

Any pointers?

Any particular reason you want to put code made for one device (the 8707 is different than the 8700) onto another?

And if you REALLY REALLY have to have the new code on your 8700, read this thread - http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-software.html

I found it by using the "search" feature and using the phrase "8707 8700". Second item in the list.

You know what would be sweet, If they made code that secretly enabled the use of 3G service with my 8700c here in the SF bay area. We have 3G service here, I have a Seirra Wireless 860 card. but noooo they dont make my BB compatible with the high-speed! but the new 8707 is!

BAH!!!

The 3G service in the US runs on a different 3G frequency in the rest of the world.

The 8700 does not have the capability to run 3G at all.

same reason i updated to telstra... its NEWER :D

and it doesn't seem to cause any harm being 8707 since it looks like i'll still be on telstra platform code.

Alright what are the frequencies? We have quad-Band service. I would asume that we would get data over any of those four services.

That would be an incorrect assumption.

There are lots of threads about the 8707. Outside the US it runs on 2100 MHz. Which is not one of the four GSM bands.

my signal strength seems to be better but I could just be having a good day. Its my first time with vodafone today theme so that's not bad. Might go back to zen though.

I noticed the same thing but can't be sure. Also I noticed an improvement on data and handheld speeds over the standard 8700 OS'.
