Default question about 8700g and the screen.

Hey guys. I just got mine 8700G and ordered some screen protectors while the phone was being shipped to my house. I got the phone before the protectors ever came in, and i was too excited to not use the phone.... so i took it out and went around with it and ended up putting these really thin hairline scratches in the screen..

what i'm wondering is if the part of the phone that i scratched is actually the phone, or if it's just a cover that goes over a screen that is behind it? If so, is there anywhere i can buy a replacement cover thing?

The clear lens over the display protects the display itself, but it is an integral part of the front housing.
