I have a BT connection with my laptop although it is on COM40. I can't figure out how to configure the connection on Desktop Manager. Some people using the 8700c have said their Desktop Manager has a BT dialog box they can check. I don't see anything. Once I have my connection, how to I get Desktop Manager to recognize the connection? Thanks.

I've never seen a Bluetooth connection for Desktop Manager. Do you have the latest version?

Desktop Manager v.4.1 has the capability for bluetooth sync.

If you have succesfully paired your bb to pc, you should see bluetooth available in the list of com ports

I have successfully paired my USB bluetooth dongle with my 8700g but when I startup Desktop Manager, the option for bluetooth is still shaded out??

Enable BT on BB, then click wheel and select options
For Services, you should see:
Headset
Handsfree
Desktop Connectivity
Wireless Connectivity.
If you do not see the last two, my guess is you have a BES IT policy that denies BT connectivity to desktop.

On the Windows taskbar, click Start.

3. Click Programs > BlackBerry > BlackBerry Device Manager.

4. Right-click the BlackBerry Device Manager icon in your Windows system tray. Click Properties.

5. Select Enable Bluetooth Support.

6. Click Configure Bluetooth.

7. Click Add.

8. In the Bluetooth devices list, click your device.

9. Click OK.

10. Open the desktop manager.

11. On the Options menu, click Connection Settings.

12. Click Detect.

13. To switch from a Bluetooth connection to a USB connection when you connect your device to your computer using a USB cable, select the Automatically switch from Bluetooth to USB when USB is connected option.

14. Click OK
