I am new to the blackberry thing and I was attempting to access MYSPACE using the default browser, but it will not work right. I added Opera Mini, and I currently use this when i want to get on myspace. My question is, will I be charged for using Upera mini instead of the browser that came on the phone. Again I am under the Nextel $39.99 unlimited web +email data plan.

Please help me understand this situation

No, Opera Mini is free. Depending on how you get Opera Mini, your provider may charge you for the actual download.
When surfing with Opera Mini, Web pages are optimized and compressed before being sent to your phone. This means that even though your mobile provider may charge you for the data which is transferred to your phone, the amount of data transferred is significantly less than it would normally be, making mobile surfing cheaper.

Thanx for the info I guess I should be a little more specific. If I subscribe to the unlimited data plan through Nextel will I be hit with extra fees by Nextel for accessing data from mini opera or will I not be charged since I have the unlimited data plan

Being on the unlmited plan means just that UNLIMITED so no, since Opera Mini does not charge for there browser, you will not be charged for using it while viewing pages.

EDIT:
The only charges you MIGHT incurr while being on the Unlmited plan is charges for Text Messaging (unless you have one of the 3 text messaging packages they offer) 10 cents to read a message, and 10 cents to send one.

Nextels Text Messaging plans are as follows;

100 text/sms messages per/month for $5.00

500 text/sms messages per/month for $10.00

UNLIMITED text/sms messaging for $15.00
