Default Couple questions on 8700g and 7290

Please Login to Remove!

Ok first off im debating between the two. I plan to use tmobile and I only plan to get a data package as i have a razr and dont mind carrying two at the same time. So i was wondering if im only using it for data does it really make sense to get the 8700g for like a hundred more? What exactly is EDGE, is it just faster web browser?

Second question and sort of dumb, but does the 7290 only come in blue or can i get it in black?

If you only plan on using the BB for email then the 7290 will be just as good as the 8700. If you want to surf the web as well, get the 8700. EDGE is only worth it if your going to surf and the 7290 is not EDGE capable.

If you buy a new 7290 it will most likely be black.

The 8700 is a newer version of the Blackberry. I will recommend getting it if you can afford it. The Edge is faster Internet connection. Not all areas have it yet.

It also have lot more features and it's little bit smaller if I am not mistaken.

For me, I decided to get the 7290. It's good enough for me for now.

The 7290 has a much more solid feel to the construction but the 8700's EDGE internet is much faster which is nice if you tether it to a laptop to get the internet.

I agree with all of the answers above but would also point having used a bb 7290 prior to my 8700. You really don't know what you don't have until you get what you don't want meaning if you get the 7290 and then find out you are using the web more than you thought there is no going back. Also you may find that having speakerphone would be nice which the 7290 doesn't have and lastly customization the 8700 is a lot more envolved in that department than the 7290. just a thought

yes because the updated OS on it and just the fact that its smaller will make a very big difference. and just the fact that the screen is way better on the 8700 idd go for it.
the best thing to do is go in the store and play around with it.

All our T-Mobile units seem to be that light blue color. I think Cingular and Verizon offer the black one, if I'm not mistaken.

shucks i noticed only the light blue in the tmobile stores the other day. guess its not a huge deal. Yeah i played around with them and i totally agree the 8700g just has a better screen, much more crisp. But i just dont know if i want to spend $200 extra on it, especially if im not using it as a phone at all. Thanks for the help guys.

The Standard 7290 is black but Blue may be special for Tmobil.
cingular is black. T Mobil may be using a 6000 series shell

Another idea, buy a broken 7290 on ebay and use the plastic covers
