Question Cingular Orange 8700c Data Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all. I just received my new 8700c yesterday and most functions seem to be working well. I can get and send email, and web browsing works fine. I have the Blackberry Unlimitted plan through Cingular Orange, and our BES has no restrictions on functionality at the device level. I wirelessly connected to and downloaded both google local and yahoo messenger, but when I try running either of them I get a message that I must have a data connection for them to operate. I also tried a RSS reader and had connection problems. Any ideas on what I may have configured improperly/forgot to configure on my device? Thanks a lot!!!

Default A Follow Up

A weird thing. Google Talk works. Yahoo messenger doesn't. Yahoo maps doesn't. Web browsing works fine.

Sometimes that happens to me. Usually I click the Turn Off Wireless icon and turn it back on and that usually works.

have you set the apn information for the phone? search the forums for the url, username and password for cingular 8700c and input that. in my own (limited) experience, after you set all that up, it takes a little time before all those services will automatically become active.

if its set up right, he shouldnt have to set up the apn for his apps to work. everything works fine on mine and i have that info blank.

it sounds like you are not set up right with cingular. call tech support, pray you get a good rep, and they will be able to trouble shoot the problem with you

Cingular has disabled/blocked Yahoo Messenger for Blackberry. No word if they will ever allow it. Google maps should work with change when successfully downloaded.

Hope this helps.
