Help decide on a new device!
I am currently wanting to switch from my Sidekick II with T-Mobile. I need a better business devise for e-mail. Here is what I need/want:
E-MAIL! (FAST e-mail)
Good phone quality
Use phone as modem
Be able to use out of country (Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands)
Have a great calender/datebook for excellent scheduling
Unlimited Text Messages
What I would like:
To view documents, as well as edit them
Is the 8700 from T-Mobile the right switch for me? Do any of you miss having a camera for those impromtu times?
No cameras on any Blackberrys right now. Wait a few months perhaps the rumors are rampant...
Outside of that, the 8700 is a great BlackBerry.
To edit documents you will require a third party application like eOffice. The RIM OS does not offer any sort of Office editing capability.
E-Mail is fast and secure; voice is decent.
What about something like the Treo 700w?
I am the wrong person to ask. But you did. Treo = poor quality and lousy software.
Yea i would also agree that the Treo are a bit crap
And I would not classify the calendar program on the BB as "great" either.
For unlimited text messages, you neeed to consult the service provider. The phone only sends and receives. Same is true of using it as a modem.
One turn back about treo 700w is on Verizon!!!!!!!! You want a WM, there the T-Mobile MDA. But if you are looking for emailing, BB is way to go: fast, secure!
I have an MDA. It's OK. Not great. Underpowered CPU. For corporate customers - those without Exchange 2003 with the wireless feature pack, e-mail on an MDA is difficult.
And the resolution on the camera is typical crappy PDA resolution (a general problem with most PDAs).
the blackberry is the right tool for you but warning t mobile network is bad so depends on where you are . as for unlimted textmessage t mobile is the only one that does that i think but cingular there are few im programs that will us the data plan from the black berry if your going to im people alot so it wont count as sms/textmessage
I have a verizon phone and a T-mobile 8700g and they get the same service everywhere I go.
