Unhappy Adding Applications to BB 8700g

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to add third party applications to my BB. I download the apps, run BB desktop applications, click add, highlight the .alx file from the download and all I get is a message saying "No applications are available for your device". Ive tried every trick I know and nothing works.

You must download and install the Handheld Operating System for your BB onto your PC before you can install additional applications. See the Sticky Thread at the top of General BlackBerry Discussion forum with the list of URLs on where to download the 8700 Handheld OS from.

Good luck.

alx files need to be paired with the application file. Make sure you also have a .cod file in the same directory.

First, NJBlackBerry is incorrect. You do NOT need the OS software installed on your PC to install applications. In fact, you can download the "BlackBerry Device Manager" which is only the Application Loader and the interface between your computer and your BlackBerry (the Device Manager) from the BlackBerry Download page (select Desktop manager 4.1 and scroll way down).

Second, the reason you're getting the message "No applications are available for your device" is because you do not have any applications for your device - just like it says. Check the software's documentation - it probably doesn't support the 8700. They may have another version designed for the 8700.
