I am trying to cut down on the amount of Spam I get, so I set up a Gmail account. I am having all of my @adelphia.net email forwarded to my gmail account, then forwarded to my @mycingular.blackberry.net address.
On my BB 7130c, I have the blackberry email icon, and an adelphia email icon. Since I have set the forwarding up this way, I am now getting every email 3 times. Can someone please tell me how to make this stop?
I still want to be able to use my @adelphia.net as my reply to address, keeping the mycingular safe for now.
In BIS, I tried shutting off the forwarding of my adelphia emails, hoping the gmail ones would be the only ones to make it, but none came in when I tried it that way.
Help!
Would it just be easier to have my Adelphia email forwarded to mycingular address, not going the gmail route way?

I think I figured it out. I deleted the @adelphia from my BIS altogether. Now I have adelphia forwarding to gmail and gmail onto mycingular. Just tested it and it works fine. Hopefully gmail will help reduce some spam (also testing Death2Spam website)

Remove forwarding from gmail to mycingular.
Remove gmail address from BIS account.
Add gmail address to your BIS account. Enjoy very fast email delivery to gmail. Days of forwarding gmail to mycingular are in the past.

If you were using mycingular address for forwading only, remove mycigular address- that will kill spam sent to it.

Well, that would work if you are using BIS 2.0. If not- upgrade to BIS 2.0.

I just activated the phone 2 days ago, so I am pretty sure I am using BIS 2.0.
Is the push from gmail as fast as the forwarding from gmail to mycingular though?

ummm hate to be rude but if you deleted your adelphia account from the Bis then how are you sending email from it?

i have all mail forwarded from comcast to Gmail and all gmail forwarded to my Berry. i set the filter in BIS under my comcast account to not forward to my berry. The gmail HAS the same. do not forward. it gets to you because it is forwarded to your cingular name. hide the icons on your home screen so you only have the Blackberry inbox, this has all incoming and outgoing mail in it. Also set the Cingular address to show your adelphia Name.... like this

Yes, gmail emails are very fast.

Try it, it is easy: add gmail address to your blackberry account, give it 15-20 minutes to initialize, and see by yourself.

it still polls the gmail for me. forwarding is faster.

Now to hijack my own thread. Each day I get around 5-6 Spam emails, each being the same concept. The Spams are there huge long stories, with nothing identfiying them as spam whatsoever.
Anyway, I am trying a 30 day trial of Death2Spam, and it has caught them all. However, since @adelphia.net mail is being forwarded to @gmail right away, Death2Spam catches them to late. I am trying to figure out a way to utilize Death2Spam before it passes on to Gmail....any thoughts?

5-6 spam emails a day? Just hit delete on blackberry. If it were 50-60, that would be a different story.

I shoot for perfection! I guess I am just anal about trying to set this up exactly the way I want to. I doubt its possible since Adelphia's server forwards the emails before I can ever have a 3rd party do anything to it.

i get maybe 1-2 spam emails a week now. you can also use filters in gmail. eg if it does not say xxxxxx -> then forward to my cingular. turn off the regular forwarding. also if it does not say hoodia and .....you get the idea. also log in to gmail and tell it which are spam. it learns. it is the best

i'd suggest setting up a filter on the BIS site itself to forward only email taht was sent to your address(es) to your handheld - i do this and get maybe 1-2 spam emails a month as 99% of the spam does not actually ahve my email address ini sthe to or cc fields

I read where someone else posted that (may have been you), but the clever spammers actually use my adelphia address.
I may have found an initial solution though. All the spam has been coming across as email with an attachment. For now, I had gmail filter out any emails with attachments. It caught 2 this morning, and didnt send them to my BB.

Hi I have 2 gmail accounts set up to forward email to my bb. I DID not set this up on the gmail side. Every time I send an email to someone from my gmail account it cc's my bb. Any way to stop this?
