Default Echo (echo...echo...echo)

Hello Everyone,

I have a Cingular Blackberry 8700c. The problem I'm having is my clients complaining of an echo when they speak. I do not hear any echo at all, but almost every one of them mention it at some point. I searched around the net and heard that this problem exists for some people and turning down the earpiece volume often does away with it. I have put it at about 25% volume and they still hear themselves. The other thing is, the earphone is already very quiet, even at its loudest setting, so I really don't think turning it down would be a solution anyway.

Does anybody else here have this problem? Is there a solution?

Yes I have this problem as well. Luckily, I only use the phone for email anyway so it doesn't really matter.

It is weird that I also do not hear an echo but the caller does of their own voice not mine.

They say using an external headset solves the problem but I haven't really tried.

Do you hold the phone to your left or right ear? I wonder if that matters.
