Bluetooth Headset with caller-id I know i can use a BT headset with my 8700 but would the caller-id display function work on a BT Headset with caller id feature. I understand that the BT profile on the BB units are limited which is why i am asking. The headset unit in particular is this http://www.citysoftware.com.au/Brows...temDetail.aspx This unit is suppose to display the caller id of any call as well as enable the user to view/browse the phone's address book. Anyone use this before? |
If the BT headset is hanging on my ear, why do I want a caller ID on it? |
because if/when the BB unit's in my pocket, i dont have to pull it out just to see if i want to take the call or not. |
I have tested a bluetooth headset from a company called tekkeon with caller id on it, and it worked just fine on my 8700g. |

Now, if the Bluetooth headset had a voice saying the name or number of the incoming call, then we'd be in business! (y) |

The caller ID on a BT headset is actually pretty useful. I picked up a Sony Ericsson headset that had caller ID on it. It wasn't a VITAL feature, but yeah, I used to use it with an older, inferior device (Palm Treo). I carried the Treo in my pocket, and it was a bit easier to take the headset off my ear to see whos calling, than to take the Treo out of my pocket. But I didnt like the sound quality with that headset, so I dont use it any more. I like the above suggestion of a voice-caller ID, that tells you who's calling. If someone comes out with one of those, I'll be first in line. |
