If you are a BIS user, there is a "Set Up E-Mail" icon that should appear on your Blackberry if you are using 4.0 software. Otherwise you can log on to your respective carrier bis webclient to set it up that way.

Which cellular provider are you using

Read the (slim) manual that comes with it.
Read the Sticky Thread FAQs in the General BlackBerry Discussion.

Enjoy your new BB.

Well you will need the PIN and ESN of the device, but if you have it.
Go here

https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=sprint

That is the link to set up your email on the web.
Enjoy

I am new also. I linked mine to my accounts using BIS but I wasn't able to recieve emails until I loaded BB Desktor redirector onto my PC. Now I'm getting duplicate and triplicate emails on my Outlook and BB. Any suggestions?

BIS and redirector is a problem. Go to your BIS account and add your POP account. Then go to your outlook and tell it to leave a copy on the server (Tools, Email Accounts, Change, More Settings, Advanced). That should fix it.

I closed out the redirect. Thanks for making this one step easier. But, it takes quite some time to receive emails. Sometimes 10 minutes.
I am a very small company but I do need fast email. Any suggestions on that?
Thanks for the help!

BIS polls your email box every so often and there is no way to change it. If you want your email faster, set up a gmail account, and a sprint.blackberry.net account, forward your pop account to gmail, then gmail to your blackberry account. This will not only give you closer to push speeds, but you also get pretty decent spam filtering thanks to the guys at gmail.

Also, if you don't want to forward your gmail, most providers let it integrate directly, as a pop account, though I see some people have had issues doing it this way.

You don't even have to tell Outlook to keep a copy on the Server. All my Email arrives on my 7130e before it reaches Outlook, mind you I do not have Outlook automatically polling the Server either. I just find with Outlook keeping a copy on the server, that it becomes a PITA to have to keep deleting all read mail after it's been sitting on the Server for a while.

I do like the idea of forwarding mail to a Gmail account, and getting near push speeds. I will have to try that.

I do have Outlook polling for mail constantly so some mail was going to the BB and some to Outlook. The "leave a copy" works for me. When BIS gets the mail it is marked as read on my POP account and read meal gets automatically deleted in a couple of days. It now shows up on both devices and even though I don't have to worry about the POP server, I agree that deleting mail fro the device I haven't read it on is a bit of a PITA.

I like the gmail idea as well. I think the gmail integration comes with BIS 2.1. Is that correct? I am on Nextel and still seem to have BIS 2.0. At any rate, I can't find a way to get my gmail mail which is any different from my comcast.net email. How can we tell if we have gmail integration?

Thanks!

I have my gmail forwarded directly to my BB thru TMobile and it is lightening quick...The one thing I dont like is that it sends me a copy of anything I send outgoing whether it be from the BB or from my computer. Is this inevitable with gmail or is this something I can turn off. I dont need to be checking an email of the exact message I just sent. My Mac does this too if I send from gmail from the web and check my Mac mailbox the copies of the sent messages are sent as their own email messages.

I am not sure if there is a way to turn that off. It sounds like something in the IMAP setttings of the service. There might be an option to turn off your replies.

I was thinking the same thing actually.. I think it may have somethign to do with gmail's settings. I havent fooled around with it enough yet to know.

fyi: I do not use mac mail or fwd it to my BB. I use my mac primarily to check my gmail and I have it POP3 to the mac's mail application. Sorry for the confusion there. but yeah it actually does the same thing when I send an email from the web via gmail at any PC it automatically sends a cc: of the same message I just sent to my BB and my mac at home. I think like drgoodtymes it is gmail keeping copies on the server because of how they have the conversation type emails and all replies are saved in the message. *shrug* I will let you all know WHEN i figure it out...
