Aim ok I just bought my new BB 8700g from Tmo and its great EXCEPT for the IM program from OZ... its horrible... it disconnects all the time, and it gives me sending errors all the time, and its so slooow.. I get messages like minutes after they are sent to me.. I only use AIM so I was wondering wats the best AIM program that I can dl to install into my bb.... thanx in advanced |
Do some searching, as this is a frequent question. But, some of the more commonly used/liked clients seems to be Yak-on, Ramble, IM+. Call me strange, but I moved my 8700c over to T-Mo, and was thrilled to get my hands on the OZ suite. :) |
I mean it looks nice... dats about it... but the actual service is horrible.. like I tested it on my computer. I would IM the BB wit a different SN on my computer and it would take almost 2 mins to receive the IM.. horrible.. I downloaded IM+ and its GREAT fast and everything but the price is crazy.... do u know any other good ones that don't cost $50? |
RIM would be very stupid to launch a consumer device (the 8100) and not release the RIM branded AIM client. This will draw the majority of sidekick users over with no question. |
I use the google talk client which you can set up to integrate with AIM. The GTalk client is amazing-- it gives you a notification next to your missed call icon when you have a new message and offers other great features. Search the forum for instructions setting it up. |
Watch out while using the OZ AIM client if you don't have an unlimited SMS messaging plan. The OZ client uses SMS messages, not the data plan. My first bill had thirty dollars in SMS charges. |
ramble is decent for being free thats what i use its not bad if you dont need all the clients such as aim yahoo msn etc. download via Ramble™ Instant Messenger |
The ones featured on my tips site all cost money but are more stable than some of the others. Good luck. |

Yea OZ looks great but it suxxxx major.. you always get disconnected, it's hard to connect, it's slow and it uses SMS. I only have one solution for you buddy.. YAK-ON! That's right your heard me YaK-On! lol oh yea and you only have to pay a one time fee of $20.. if you want you can try ramble IM for free but it's not that very stable for me. |
ok so I gave in and bought yack-on... and an extra battery since I read that it sucks up ur battery life |
I love Yak-on. Very stable. Very awesome. |
ramble did give me problems with lagging...it froze my bb at one point i was usin it too much but with yak-on its decent doenst freeze or lag |

I use Verichat right now and I am on AIM so much that I don't mind paying $40 a year. I tried Yak-on and Ramble but for me Verichat is the way to go. |
