Default Turning phone Feature Off

Please Login to Remove!

I searched archives with no luck. So if this question has been answered I apologize in advance.

I just purchased a new 8700c. I purchased 'Data Only' but when I receive my phone i noticed I had a phone # associated with the 8700c and I could make phone calls. I called cingular and asked if they had errantly attached a voice plan. They said, no and the ability to make phone calls was native to the 8700c. In addition if I did make any phone calls I would be charged $.40. I asked if there was a way to lock out the phone feature or deactivate the ability to make calls.

Thanks in Advance

There's no way that I know of to restrict just voice from a BB. Ask Cingular to restrict your incoming and outgoing calls - that way calls made from the phone automatically drop and you're not charged.

Default turning phone feature off

Thanks for the response. I will see if cingular will restrict incoming or outgoing calls.

I have two lines of service with Cingular that do not have inbound or outbound calling features, but certainly do have phone numbers. Cingular should be able to do it for you as well.

Verizon on the other hand....
