I tried searching the forum but I don't know if I am not searching correctly. I am able access e-mail from my job on my Blackberry 8700g just fine. I just wanted to know if there is a way to have the device check the mail box more often. Sometimes I will get an e-mail in my inbox and it won't show on my Blackberry for 5-10 minutes. My job is not able to forward the messages to my blackberry e-mail account, either. Any help would be appreciated.
Unforunately, NO...you cannot manually check for email on your BB.
I'm in the same situation. I don't have a 'blackberry.net' email, I use my earthlink email which is work and personal. I have it forwarded to my BB. My email speed varies but on average, email seems to get pushed every 5-10 minutes. Depending, I think, on if the RIM servers are busy or not.
I have read that the push email from RIM works this way (and I welcome correction if I am wrong--or confirmation!): Via BIS, your e-mail is pushed to your BB every 15 minutes. If it finds e-mail, it sends to your unit, and rechecks for new mail in 2 minutes. If nothing is there, it reverts back to the 15 min check.
That said, my tmo.blackberry.net address receives e-mail fairly instantly when sent.
My OWA seems to follow the requiste 15min/2min convention JSanders mentioned above. I wish that my OWA would be as instantaneous as my gmail or yahoo account...
I don't know if the BIS 2.1 upgrade applied as universally for OWA/POP3 mailboxes. Any thoughts d_fisher?

I don't know that yahoo is always instantly. I seem to find that emails will occaisionally be missed by the push system and every once in a while I have a message sitting in my yahoo account that didn't show up on my phone.
only your @carrier.blackberry.net address; Yahoo! addresses (unless your w/ Cingular); Gmail accounts - not their hosting yet though; and mail connector are real time delivery w/ BIS 2.1
I use BES with Lotus Notes, incomming and sent messages come from the server to the BB almost immediately. Filing and deletions seem to have a lower priority for pushing out to/from the BB.
Have your work upgrade to a BES server. Then you will get instant email push of your corporate mail. If you have influence or exeuctive control, you should be able to get your company to buy-in.
