Welcome. Very commonly asked question. Easily answer - hold down the ALY key and dial the letter.

Is that just on the 87xx series, because it doesn't work on the 7750. Fortunately, I typed emails on a regular cell phone so long, I don't have any problem remembering which letters are on each number.

It should work on every BlackBerry. It's worked on every one I've had.

On a full qwerty i have been able to just type the letters in phone mode. The phone identifies the letter as a number. So if you press the "k" key it should sound (make the same tone) as the "5". So if you typed 800-blackberry it should dail and place the call. It has worked for me in the past.
