I just got my Blackberry 8700, and I can't seem to get the battery cover to slide open. I've tried a few things but I'm also worried about accidentally scratching the device. Anyone have any suggestions?

ill tell you one thing to not put on it is water dont try to slip it off with water
does it slide off even alittle bit?

Did you buy it off ebay? I'd hate for it to be one of those dummy phones that didn't work and that the battery cover is glued on.

Doesn't slide off much. I mean, I can force my nails into the gaps so that it'll budge, but that's about it. I picked this up from a reputable dealer, and they DID open up the cover when I purchased it. However, I did notice they had a heck of a time getting it open as well (didn't really think much of it at the time).

okay, well that's a good thing. You are pushing down on the little tab correct? Sometimes it just needs a little force. I remember when I got my new bb I had to use my knee for support for awhile until it loosened up.

sometimes mine does the same thing, i have to push the release button hard with my right hand (assuming you are right handed) and also push down on the center of the battery door with my left hand as well, while trying to slide it out, hope that helps...

hmm, yeah for me it was just push hard and slide down. Setting it on me knee for support/grip. Keep working on it, it should come off eventually. One you get it done a few times it becomes a lot easier.

I'll keep at it for a while. Geez, I wish they built some grips on this thing. Speaking of which, maybe I'll try using a rubber band.

haha do that they do sell something called egrip

Instead of pushing on the tab with the palm of my thumb, if you will, I use the very tip and thumb nail. Seems to work a little easier.

Finally! The rubber band did the trick. Thanks for the help guys. Egrip eh? Maybe I'll have to look into that.
