| Blackberry 8700 Cingular Questions Please Login to Remove! I have an unlocked BB 8700g and am thinking about using it with Cingular plans. Could anyone tell me the difference between Blackberry Email and
Blackberry Internet Service which are both offered on Cingular? Do I need
both plans to just receive and sent emails and to browse through the internet or BB Email would suffice? Thanks. | | Offline

| All you need is BIS unless you want to set up BES which is BlackBerry Enterprise Service, then you'd do BES. Not really needed unless your company gives you the option to connect to their server and retrieve your corporate email. | | Offline

| When you go to Cingular, you simply need to buy a BB data plan and that will include both Email and Internet. You can not buy one or the other.

| The Cingular plan I have for my 8700c (in Atlanta) is for $29.99 for unlimited e-mail and data/internet...and you're free to select whichever voice plan you want with it.
I know that at least with Gmail, you get an "instant" push to the Blackberry, so I don't really have a need for BES--Although you can get another BES and/or Exchange host for additional $$/month through another service.
If you use your corporate BES, I think you need to upgrade to the $44.99 service with Cingular.

I am in NH and the day the 29.99 plan was announced, I called and got it set up. | | Offline

| The 29.99 plan is relatively new but indeed does exist. This happened about 2 to 3 months ago. | | Offline

| Does anything new need to be configured on the BlackBerry device if one switches from the $44.99 plan to the $29.99 plan? And also, are we sure there are no differences or is there something that is limited on the plan? I saw both when I added the service, but went with the $44.99 because I wan unsure about the other one because it had business in the name leading me to think it was email only or something.
Could someone who has this already log into their account on Cingular's website and tell me the exact feature code for it?

| There's nothing new to be configured.
Here's a simple breakdown. Again.
$29.99 Plan - for personal (BIS) e-mail ONLY. Still Unlimited. Still Data, and e-mail, and internet, and the rest of the goodies.
$44.99 Plan - for Corporate (BES) e-mail. You HAVE to have this plan if you're on a BES. Can also include BIS e-mail. Still Unlimited. Still Data, e-mail, internet, and the rest of the goodies.
Note: Text messaging is NOT included on either. | | Offline

You should do a search on this site for "Cingular cost decrease" thread, or if someone is nice enough can post it for you. But it has the USOC code that you can give to Cingular in order for them to add it to your account. Most of us jumped on it back in June.
But it is definately available. Good luck. | | Offline

| Persistance I called today and asked if I could change to the $29.99 plan from the $44.99 plan. I was politely told by 4 different people that there was no such plan. I then called back and asked to speak to a supervisor, he did say that there was such a plan and that I could switch because I was a "valued customer"...lol Anyway it worked and I am saving some $$ now... Thanks peeps

| Changing from 44.99 to 29.99 For what it's worth, I just called Cingular, and changed plans. I was told that the data was still unlimited (email & internet) but the rate was reduced from $44.99 to $29.99. I use BIS if that helps. | | Offline

Thanks for all the info. I got my unlocked 8700g last week and added the $29.99 data plan. The phone works fine, but I have no data connection.
It says "Data Connection Refused" on the screen. Three different Cingular
techs have tried diferent things but nothing seems to work. Does anyone
know what the problem here? Thanks. | | Offline
