That's why I switched to Yak-on. Couldn't keep Ramble connected.

Yak-on is a one time fee of $20.00. While I agree it does work better than Ramble, it also disconnects from time to time. One thing it does do though that I don't remember if Ramble does, it will re-connect you automatically. Reason you know that happens you will get a message from AOL Manager saying you are connected twice, etc, etc.

What we need is a true AIM Client. My understanding from hunting around other sites is it is comming, in fact here is a link from BB Cool with more info on that BlackBerry Cool » BlackBerry IM Clients coming

So hopefully soon, so we will no longer have deal with these third pary apps.

But 3rd party aps are the ones that bypass sms charges correct? They are able to use the data plans instead of chargin 10 cents a msg.

Also for my 8700g, Yak-On sucked ALOT of battery power! I was actually shocked to see how come my battery was so low, most likely because it is constantly hitting up the network to update the buddy list. It is, however, my favorite app to use for IM.

Nope. One time charge ($20) is all it costs.
