Default Jpg pic in email wont 'retrieve'...

Please Login to Remove!

I did a search on the word retrieve and didn't come up with anything relating to my question so if this has been covered I apologize.

My wife sent me 2 emails, each containing a jpg image. The first one I did open attachment, scrolled down to full content, and hit retrieve. The picture loaded fine.

On the 2nd one though it will not retrieve it. I just get a red X. It did give some error msg but I forget what that said. Tried to retrieve multiple times with no success. I had her re-send the email with the same result. I fwd to my gmail address and the picture showed just fine.

I'm very new with the BB so I have no idea what might cause this. I did have the same thing happen to me last night as well. I sent myself a picture and it wouldn't retrieve it.

Any suggestions? Thanks

(This is on an 8700g btw)

And I beleive this is happening with emails that are coming thru gmail? because I have seen the same thing. I have seen this issue if the emails were originated from Outlook Express .

The original email my wife sent was sent through tmail. Then the one I fwd to myself was sent through gmail.

The one I sent myself last night that also wouldn't retrieve was sent through the mail app from my mac. So seems its not just 1 or 2 clients cause the problem but something else.

I asked the similar question in my post

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ttachment.html

in some cases, i can download pictures without issues. in some cases, i have to retry it multiple times in order to download them.

by the way, when you said it wouldn't retrieve it, did you mean you got the email, but when you tried to open the attachment or retrieve the attachment, it won't work;

or, your BB did not even retrieve the email body at all?

I've been seeing similar problems with all attachment types. Retrieving has one of three results:

1) the attachment opens fine

2) there is an "unknown error" retrieving the attachment

3) the "attachement server could not be reached"

These three results seem to be occuring randomly. I'm seeing it with attachments sent from gmail, hotmail, various companies' mail ... pretty well from anywhere.

I'm not sure if these errors started when I upgraded to BIS 2.0 or when I moved to the 8703e (both were done recently).

The problem that I am seeing is specific to attachments. Email messages are delivered without problems.

Last night I sent myself an email with 6 .jpg attachments. The first three loaded quickly without problems, two of them took several tries and eventually loaded correctly, the sixth has still not come through.

i have the same issue too. somehow, it works after i try to download the "table of content" of the attachment. i have to retry multiple times before I could download all of them. I was about to call TMO to check with them. Additionally, the problem attachments are all > 200k (some of them were around 600k). When I downloaded small attachments (<100k), they loaded fine.

I was thinking it might have to do with the file sizw. Anyhow, I don't have much problems than before.
