Default Cracked Screen

Please Login to Remove!

Today I dropped my BB from chest height to a table, (about a 1.5ft drop) and when I picked it up the screen was cracked... A thick black crack on the right and the whole screen is white, nothing is displayed.

What are my options? The phone is an 8700 and is less than a year old.

Is there any way that RIM or Rogers will replace this?

Is my only option to get out of warrany work done?

I doubt you'd be able to get it replaced. I'm assuming you don't have the insurance? You might go in a store and try it anyway. Just be really, really nice.

Another option (maybe not real moral) would be to call support and tell them your screen just went blank or say something else is wrong. That is if they will ship a replacement with phone support. I have Verizon and they require all support for blackberrys to go through the data technical support so they would never know what kind of physical shape the device was in.

No, no insurance. I didn't even know it existed, (rogers may not have it).

Well I can't say the screen wasn't dropped because its obvious. You can see the tiny cracks in the crystal, and the black liquid.
I've thought about doing that but Rogers won't do the replacement themselves they say I have to go through my local dealer. Problem is a friend of mine works at my local dealer and he said he could try to sneak it in but they'd likely send me a bill back once they inspected it at RIM...

At this point I'm just thinking I'll gift this to someone and tell them they just have to buy a new screen for it for $200 then get a cheap 7290 from eBay and wait for the 8800.

Does anyone know where I can get OEM screens for a good price?
