Cingular user currently with a 7100g, and I just think the keyboard sucks ass. I've just about dealt with it [year and a half] for as long as I can. I can't always proof read replies to make sure hold didn't equal golf, try didn't equal yet and so on.....shall I go on....nah.....you get my point.

So I've looked into the 8700, but then read about a possible 8800.....It's anyone's guess when the 8800 will roll out and if Cingular will get it first, maybe I wouldn't even like it once I see it dilemma 101.

I assume by looking at the stores 8700 model it is easier to type with, much like my old 5810...wait maybe I can just power that bad boy back up, lol.

What's your take?

It sounds like you have already decided that you want to get rid of SureType, so now you're only decision is what QWERTY model do you want. It's hard to say exactly when the 8800 will be released, there are several rumors, but that's all they are as of now. I guess it really depends on how quickly you want to get a QWERTY device. You could always look on eBay for good deal on an 8700, and then when the 8800 comes out, go try it out in the store and see if you like it any better.

Yeah thought about that, but I have watched ebay and the price difference just doesn't seem to warrant not getting new. I haven't watched a lot of auctions actually close, but the prices seem to vary above $200. I'm pretty sure I can get a new one for $300 from the cingular store, $350 if I want to save contract time for the next round.

I've also tried to factor in what I might be able to get rid of my current 7100 for, a couple just went today for $135 USD, I have all the original contents plus box. I'm also thinking that if and when the 8800 comes out I could always sell the 8700, and the pics of the 8800 look good, but I've seen some pics of girls that look good only to see them in person and they are tired and beat!

I would just hate to buy an 8700 tomorrow and have the 8800 come out in January. Hmmmmm?

for what it's worth, I had a 7100t until the wireless went out, then started using an 8700g.....I like the BB for the basic BB stuff.....don't want camera, mp3 player, SD card slot, etc, at least not on my BB......I was wild about the 7100, but the 8700 is a beautiful device.......that's my perspective
