Default BIS - Gmail Better Than Yahoo?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I'd like to hear from those of you who use BIS with either yahoo or gmail.

I currently use yahoo with my 8700g (TMO) but may jump ship due to email delays. This happens on and off (as some of you may know) and is starting to drive me bonkers! Many times my email gets delayed by HOURS.

I've heard gmail is much better and doesn't have the same issue with delays. Before I change my email address I'd love some feedback.

Gmail or Yahoo?

Thanks in advance!

gmail is so much better.

I was using yahoo - but started getting delays.

I stumbled over some hidden tripwire - and yahoo was starting to think that my email server (that was forwarding my legitimate email to yahoo) must be spamming.

My emails started bottlenecking with messages that suggested I was sending too quickly and should try again later.

When I forward email - I want ALL email to be forwarded. Yahoo decides that perhaps they will, perhaps they wont - and they'll determine how many email messages are reasonable in a given period.

Just based on the volume (300 emails a day to my own account) - our email server was deprioritized by yahoo for all mail send to yahoo.

No such problems with gmail.

How exactly does that work? Do you not log in to your gmail account at all, having outlook retrieve all messages? If not, how do you reconcile the emails in gmail with the emails downloaded by Outlook?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I have gmail BIS and it works great with my 8703e on verizon. I get emails instantly, no less than a 10 second delay.

Gmail Rocks...especially good at filtering out the SPAM so you don't get it on your BB

Like a few postings above, Yahoo was great before BIS 2.1. Then it started getting delays, and I moved over to Gmail. Since then, Gmail has been absolutely flawless.

What a difference a day makes! I made the switch to gmail and while it's been less than 24 hours, it's AWESOME!

No more delays and a nicer user experience online. Wish I had done this sooner!

Thanks to everyone for your feedback!

it is just a normal pop3. you can set to delete email from gmail if you delete from outlook. however, i do not think it is the other way around.

I have both. You can't compare the two. Gmail is far better. Yahoo! will drive you crazy.

Haven't tried Gmail, but really have no complaints with the yahoo mail, I only use it for personal email so I never really notice if it's slow or delayed since I never check it on my computer, just the BB

I used to always use yahoo, but after a friend invited me to gmail everything has changed. I can literally have both the computer gmail account open and the BB account and the BB will get the email a second or two ahead of the computer. It's amazing. So many better features.
