why is the email service so slow. Are there any email servers out there that are faster.

What precisely do you observe being slow?

I've been lagged out for most of the day (BIS) but it seems to have gotten better since 3:30 (Eastern) or so. Most likely a problem on RIM's end that will 'automagically' resolve itself.

dchandler, The way I understand RIM's Push email, your BB will only check for e-mails every 15 minutes. If there is nothing there, it checks again in 15. If there is e-mail, it grabs it and checks again in 2 minutes, then back to the 15 min interval if nothing there again. So if you are receiving e-mail faster on your desktop Outlook, or webmail, than you are getting it on your BB, that is because that is the way the system is designed to work.

I remember another poster explaining it this way--Can you imagine the bandwidth used if your BB checked for mail every 30 sec or minute? With 5 million + BBs out there...
