Smile 8703e text messaging?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a new user of BB and have an 8703e from Verizon - I can't figure out how to text people. Verizon cust. service said I need to add-in everyone's carrier-specific text address - is this true? If so, I may go to Treo since I'm still in my "honeymmon period"....please help

Their "Text Address" should just be their phone number. Go into your messages folder and click the thumbwheel and select "Compose SMS". You should be good from there. If the option isn't there, you might need to resend your service books.

SMS = Text Messaging. It's the same thing.

Welcome to the forums.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

SMS is a regular text message, "Small Message Service".

Actually, I believe it's "Short" not "Small", but whatever...same idea.

Just as they said before...simply go to your address book, locate the recipients name...hit the thumb wheel, select SMS...it will then automatically select the mobile number for the recipient. hit the thumb wheel again and there you have it!

Group SMS messages may be composed on the BlackBerry:
1) go to Messages
2) click the scroll wheel and choose Compose SMS
3) enter a recipient
4) click the scroll wheel and select Add Recipient
5) repeat steps 3) and 4)

There is a maximum number of recipients that can be added to a single outgoing SMS message ... it's around 10 or 15 ... I've never bothered to count.

There is no limit to the maximum number of SMS messages the device can send but the cost of sending SMS messages will be determined by your carrier's SMS fees.
