Default Easy way to restore to factory settings?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

Is there an easy way to restore the 8700g to factory settings (I've installed Zen) if I want to return it to tmo?

I am sure there is a thread on this somewhere, but I searched around couldn't find anything.

I still can't seem to find an answer and would really appreciate any help I can get.

I've installed Zen and I want to get my 8700g back to the out of the box TMobile setting so I can return it within my 30 day period.

Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

If you want to completely wipe the BB to the basic factory settings, there are a couple things you can do. The easiest is probably going to Options - Security Options - General Settings. Here, click Password and then choose the option to Wipe Handheld. This will wipe most everthing (email, call logs, etc.)

The other is setting a password, locking the device, then mis-entering the password 10 times in a row. This does the same thing as choosing Wipe Handheld.

Any additional applications you loaded, you may need to delete manually. To do this, go to Options - Advanced Options - Applications, then click on any app you wish to delete and select Delete.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I tried that.

The problem with that method is that it doesn't actually restore to the old T-Mobile theme. It still uses Zen.

I tried to reinstall the T-Mobile theme but it didn't work.

I would use JL_Cmder to wipe the Handheld, then download the latest software from TMO, both the Device and Desktop Manager. Once installed, that should restore your BB to near factory settings, with the only difference being the version of software you are installing.

i dont think that t-mobile will care that their theme is not on there.. i was told once by a t-mobile retail store rep that it is their policy to take back any phone, as long as it is in working condition, they don't care about scratches/etc... my friend returned a pearl that was badly scratched and they took it back no problem

If you deleted a theme, the only easy way to get it back is to wipe and reload the OS.

Patronus,

Honestly, If the store rep's at T- Mobile are anything like the ones at Verizon, you don't have a worrie in the world returning a phone. The people that work at the Verizon stores near me, here in south florida, couldn't even figure out how to turn my Blackberry 8703e on, furthermore, they never even saw one till I brought it in there to have it activated. And that was a waste of time on my part. I should of just did it myself, like I finally ended up doing at home.

Good Luck, and Don't Sweat It I'm Sure They Won't Even Know The First Thing About It.

Matt
