Default Recommended Bluetooth Headset for 8703e

Please Login to Remove!

Folks,
I have a 8703e, this will be my first bluetooth enabled phone. What is the recommended headset for this series of BB? I see that the plantronics Voyager 510 got great reviews on Amazon (4.5/5 with 306 reviews)...anyone using this model?

Appreciate your comments.

I use the Plantronics Discovery 640 and love it. The headset itself small and comfortable with excellent sound quality on both ends of the call, and the included accessories are ingenious.

The 640 comes with a variety of power adapters as well as a talk/standby time extender that uses a AAA battery. The mini-USB adapter works great with the blackberry charger or off of your laptop/desktop USB port.

It's a little more expensive than some of the other headsets, but not outrageous ($70 most places on-line). Highly recommended.

I use the Voyager 510 with Windsmart Technology and I love it. I sometimes drive my old Jeep CJ7 and even with all the wind and road noise my wife says she can hardly tell I am in a car. I would recommend this headset to anyone!

I use the Jabra BT250 V, Motorola HS605 and HS850. The 605 seems to be the best and lasts the longest for me. I can't get even a full day from the 850. The Jabra lasts about 2 days, the 605 has gone as long as 4 days between charges. Depends on your use however. I am not a real heavy user of the phone.

I just got a Samsung WEP-200, it's the smallest one I've seen.

Can't find it on their US website, but for some reason it's on their French website: SAMSUNG WEP200 Bluetooth

It's pretty small, supposed to have 3 hour talk time and 70 hour standby. I use it throughout the day, not 3 hours worth, but it's never gone out on me between charges.

If you get one, beware that the chart in the manual of how to place the rubber gasket is backwards. It was so uncomfortable until I switched it.

I can vouch for both the Plantronics Voyager 510 and the Discovery 640. Both are excellent.
The 640 is smaller and more comfortable for me to wear.
The 510 has a longer battery life, and is a bit cheaper.
Both are excellent choices. If you have the money, I'd say go for the Disco 640, you won't be dissapointed.
(If you have even more money, why not try the Discovery 645, which is supposed to have even better sound than the 640... although I never tried it myself)

Razrwire - great sunglasses and great headphone. Costs less than a quality pair of Oakleys and headset purchased separately.

The guy at the sprint store was going on and on about how good the samsung wep-200 was, he was wearing one and it looked really small and was super light. I may give that a try.

I'll third the 510. Smaller is nice but doesn't help any if performance is poor (note that I haven't personally tried the WEP-200 so I'm not saying anything about it's performance in particular).

If micro is what ya looking for, i tried the Jabra JX-10 and the Nokia BH-800.

I like the JX-10 alot more because of the range it has over the BH-800. i can walk 12 feet from the phone and it still clear. Couldnt do that with the BH-800.

I am using the BH-800 necklace head holder with the JX-10... perfect.

Is the H3 mini-blue finally out? I've been waiting for almost a year!

Edit: oops. I've been waiting for the H5

I have the Motorola H700 and have no issues. Then again, I do not use it much.

Default Motorola H700

I am using one of these and overall am very satisfied with it. It has a very small form factor, is comfortable to wear and most of all, I no longer find myself accidentally dialing calls due to me pushing buttons on a headset in my pocket.

With this headset, when the microphone is flipped close, the connection is off, it connects within a second or two when you open it to either make a call or answer a call.

There seems to be a significant counterfeiting problem with these headsets and the knockoffs perform very poorly. I think this accounts for the mixed reviews, people either think the H700 are great (like me) or they talk about them barely working, pieces falling off, etc.

It charges with a mini usb, and can use the same car cord or wall charger as the BB.

It is louder then most other headsets I have tried, but not as loud as the in the ear type of units. I find I can do anything with this unit one handed, which is nice.

Overall, a very good headset for my use.

I purchased LG HBM-730 for $60 @ BBuy and really like its small size and ergonomics. Jabra 250V was low volume-wise (too far out of ear?) and Samsung 200 felt like it was always going to fall out of my ear.

My Samsung felt the same way, until I realized that I had the rubber piece backwards. I installed it the direction that the book showed for use in the right ear, but when I set it they way they showed for the left ear, it worked much better in my right.

My ears may be deformed, but it fits now, that's all I care about.
