By now you are into sleep deprevation but look for the little speaker on your home screen and "profiles" are set up there.

I'd recommend using the Auto On/Off Feature...

I have mine set to Auto-ON M-F @ 6:30AM and OFF @ 11:00PM
On the weekends ON @ 8:00AM and OFF @ 11:30PM

Just make a profile that mutes everything except phone calls unless you don't even want calls, in which case, just edit one of the profiles that best suites your situation.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I use quiet profile at nite. You can use 'phone only' at nite. You can create you own profile too.

if you use the off profile, does it also mute the alarm?

What I do is use the auto off feature to shut the phone down and then auto on for the time that I wake up. The sound of the messages downloading always wakes me up.

If you don't always get messages, subscribe to something like daily weather (weather underground is my favorite) and they'll send you a forecast overnight so something alerts when the device is on.

I believe the alarm will also wake the phone up out of auto off.

Nope. Alarm has a mind of its own. I found out the hard way (i.e. alarm clock tone on high, in the midst of a meeting).
