Default Circumventing BES to get to the Net

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys.
I am totally new to Blackberry. Not to mobile devices. I have recieved a new 8700 for work. Now the problem is Opera mini and Avantgo (so far) will not access the net. I am pretty sure it has something to do with a proxy.
Oh and it's on the Cingular network.
Is there a way to create a new connection over the cingular network straight to a cingular APN?
Really I don't even want the corp email just Xpress messaging. Could I even possibly wipe the BES connection off and just get Xpress messaging?
Any Help would be appreciated.
Myk

Welcome to BB Forums.

You are trying to get around BES security on a company owned BlackBerry?

Just making sure I understand..

Well I thought that's what it was that was stopping certain apps from accessing the net. Opera mini and Avantgo come back with no network accessibility errors. The cingular browser with fine and so far Google mobile maps work great.

You cannot circumvent BES. I think what you are trying to do is called "Spilt Pipe" in IT terms. Once you have connected to BlackBerry Enterprise Server's Mobile Data Service you can no longer access a public gateway. All your internet is through your corporate network.
