Default 7100g OS 4.1 upgrade - Rogers

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

which version of OS should I download if I'm with Rogers for my 7100g.

When I go to the link provided in the FAQ, it lists the 7100r but not the 7100g.

I've tried that one but once the upgrade is complete I get an "Illegal exception". Everything works even though that happens except the internet browser. It is there but nothing happens when I click on it. I'm on BES.

Thanks...

Patrick

Patrick: The 7100 series are the same device if the last character of your model is G, V, T, or R. Just different cosmetics for the shell. I like the "V" best as it's more rectangular. G was for Generic, V for Vodafone world, T for T-Mobile, and R for Rogers. There may have been a couple of more for some of the other larger world networks.

That said: The latest & greatest OS (as of noon today Toronto time) for the 7100 series you have 1.8.0.149 (package build 4.1.0.351) I forget which site had it but that's what I'm running successfully on the Rogers network.

I note that the links on the "Blackberry OS page" in BlackBerryForums is now a lot tider. Follow the directions there to update.

As for your Internet issue: Once you upgrade you should re-send the service books to your handheld to get it back up and happy again. There are two places to do this (depends on your own personal situation): If you are using BES at work, have your Admin send this to you. If you are using Rogers.com go there, sign in, and in the "profile" section resend the two service books - one for browsing and one for email. It'll take about 3 minutes for you to get a message from Rogers saying "Welcome!".

Thanks for the info Ttune. I think the software you are referring to is the one from Hong Kong CSL.

I'll try that one and let you know. I'll ask my admin to resend the service books has suggested since I'm on a BES server.
