Exclamation Help!!! Errors on restart of my 8703e

Please Login to Remove!

I am on Bell Mobility, and have an 8703e... every time I restart my device, two things happen:

1. I get the following error: Uncaught exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException
2. My Internet Browser no longer works.

The workaround I've been using is to wipe out my service books, yank the battery, then register the device on the network again. Huge pain. I've tried wiping every app off the device except those that came with it, reloaded the OS. Still happens.

Does this happen to anyone else, or anyone have an idea what's causing it? Is the device just defective?

SSS

Personally, I would wipe the BB using JL_Cmdr and do a fresh OS download straight off Bell's site of the most current OS, and then go to RIM's site and download/install Desktop Manager v4.2. Install Desktop Manager first, then the OS.

If on re-start your 8703e still shows that error message I would take the phone back and ask for a replacement.

If you are on a BES might they have recently implemented security policies?

i have that all the time - my issue was one of the service books rogers sends when you activate the BIS... i cant remember which one, whether it was yahoo! or one of those. Delete one by one on the handheld, and reset - when you get the right one the browser icon will return and the error will cease!

spoke too soon - i restored my device after i wiped it (i needed to get ahold of an email i had) and voila, back to the same error. I'll try deleting the service books u mentioned, and see which one is the culprit...

Options, Security Options, Disable Content Compression and Content Protection.

Reboot the device.

Reregister via Host Routing Table and everything should be fine.
