8703e - Speakerphone Settings

Anyone know if there is a way to toggle the default speakerphone mode?

Basically, what I'm asking is if there is a way to have it on by default when a call starts. It appears that my phone always defaults back to speakerphone off.

For example, I get a call and switch on speakerphone. The call ends (and I have NOT disabled speakerphone) and 10 seconds later I get another call. When I answer the phone, speakerphone is not on. The same goes with placing calls.

This is by no means a major issue (for me at least) - i don't use my speakerphone all that much because the volume sucks. Just curious about the ability to control it.

I was joking the other day with one of my co workers that if you want to use the speakerphone on your 8703e, you have to:

-Go into your office
-Close the door
-Crawl under your desk
-Put a towel over your head

....if you do all of these things, maybe - just maybe, you will have created an environment quiet enough to use your speakerphone!

I use the speakerphone all the time, and it is very loud. I actually usually need to turn DOWN the volume.

To my knowledge there is no way to set speakerphone to default. The good news is that unlike many other devices, its just one click of one button.

Really? I wonder if I have a bum speaker... At 100% volume it's almost loud enough to understand what someone is saying - but the audio is pretty distorted. Backing it off a few notches yields clear, non distorted audio, but it's just too quiet to use unless you're in a room with no background noise.

mine's just fine. a bit lower in volume than my nextel bb, but then again that's about all the nextel had going for it.

I'm going to compare my speaker quality & volume against a couple of other 8703s's to determine if I should get a replacement device....

But back to the original question - is there any way to default the phone to speakephone on?
