Default 8703e and SPOT GPS software

Please Login to Remove!

I tried installing this several times directly from the manufacturers website only to get absolutely NOTHING working. I mean, the software loads ....now, finally but I can't get any sort of GPS readings. I went outdoors , no luck.

I will be contact skylabs for more technical assistance, but have any of you more experienced people used this software on an 8703e yet successfully ??

I downloaded the free GPS software directly from the skylab-mobilesystems.com/en/products/spot_8703e.html
who makes the SPOT GPS software, and it come RAR'd with 2 folders,
1st for bluetooth GPS (non-internal) phones (Verizon) , and the
2nd folder for GPS enabled phones. (Sprint/Nextel)

Now everytime I try to load the 2nd one, it installs, but I get error messages when I attempt to launch it.
I got the 1st one installed no problem but it naturally asks for an external GPS locator, so that one isn't needed.

By the way, my phone is from Sprint so the onboard GPS should be enabled VS the Verizon ones.
However I can't find anywhere in the Blackberry menu's to access GPS period.....

Can anyone more experienced help a newb out here ??

I have the 8703e from Sprint. I have not tried to install and use Spot yet.

I have a question though: Did you go into options and Location Based Services and turn on the GPS?

I just wanted to check that before this goes any further.

I've got the 8703e on Sprint and it works great for GPS after you enable the Location Based Services (under Options).

You might also try my GPS reminder app Naggie to see if perhaps you're seeing Spot-specific problems or general GPS trouble.

Yes, it's the first thing I did check to make sure it was on.

Default See Spot Run

I would recommend moving to TeleNav for your GPS solution. It is a
$10/month subscription but you are not locked down to a contract. It uses the GPS in the 8703e. go to their website telenav.com
