I have both a 7130c and a 8700c and they are both terrific devices. It really comes down to personal preference.

My preference is the 7130c as I can type faster with less errors due to the fantastic SureType system. Also I really like the form factor being that of a cell phone. So much easier to carry and not look "geeky".

I also find the phone to be much better on the 7130c people have commented that it does'nt even sound like on a cellphone. That's really nice as I do so much business on the phone. Reception is really clear and I have no dropout problems at all.

I have was going to choose just one, it would be the 7130c hands down.

Default 7130g vs. 8700g

I cross posted this in the 7100 forum

I have a choice to make in the next few days between a 7310g and an 8700g. I'm looking for some assistance fromthe experts here.

I currently use a 7100 and like the shape but the voice quality is awful. (microphone problems documented all over this forum)

Q. Is the 7130 any better in this area?

Can anyone comment about the benefits of either model versus the other beyond the obvious full qwerty kb. i.e.

Speed of operation
Speed of tethered EDGE modem (8700 can do this with mobishark)
Other non-obvious differences.

Thanks a lot

...depending on your carrier. Without a tethering data plan on Cingular you'd need something like Mobishark.

Have you used to device comparison on the Blackberry site? It won't help with your phone quality question but it will give you all the details on the differences between the two devices. I've used a 7100 but not a 7130 so I can't really speak on the phone quality question.

If it's any help I have both! 8700v and 7130v. They are both brilliant. I think if anything the software in the 7130v is the most robust BB software I have ever used. The choice is a balance in my view: if you're a monster emailer then 8700 if you not then 7130v.

Me: I love the 7130v, it comes a very close second to the 8700 as an emailer (I like suretype) but for pocketability and everyday usage including weight it's a winner!
