What's the difference? I've read the directions but still don't quite understand the two. Sorry for the dumb questions guys......I just got the 8703 and trying to figure everything out over the weekend BEFORE I go to work on Monday.

BES provides access to corporate e-mail via a Blackberry Enterpirse server. BIS is what your carrier provides to you as a consumer to access your e-mail from pop accounts such as yahoo or gmail.

Thanks for the info. My company is very small and is using gmail as our email service. I just wish the email "push" from BIS was quicker. I'm getting email pushed to my device 10-15 minutes after it is received on the server.

BES really does a much better job of integrating the Blackberry and your mailbox. The information's really all out there -- I'm just pointing out certain features that most people are interested in. With BES you're pretty much limited to one email address though you can still integrate 10 more via BIS as well. There's no 15 minute delay like BIS has as your email isn't polled via POP. You gain wireless sync of the contacts, calendar, notes and tasks. Most of the other major points are more beneficial in a corporate setting: generate & accept meeting requests, global address lookup, intranet access, various device management features, etc.

I use BES for my personal email but it seems like BIS is sufficient for 90% of people out there.

Though you can subscribe to hosted BES service if you or your company are willing to outsource email and BES.

I'm on BIS and my email arrives instantly on my BB.
