Default 8700g muffled, especially with background noise

Please Login to Remove!

I read posts about the microphone on the 8700g picking up a lot of background noise, but I find it very difficult to hear when there is background noise (e.g., driving on the highway or in a relatively noisy restaurant). It is significantly more difficult to hear than my old 7290 and 6230. My friend used my phone while we were driving and he made the same comment to me -- unsolicited.

In addition, it seems that the sound isn't muffed consistently. I think when I talk to certain other cell phones it's muffled, but when I listen to the voice mail announcement asking me to enter my password, it is clear. I don't think this an an issue with other people's cell phones because I didn't have this problem with my old blackberries.

What OS are you running? There have been reports that OS upgrades have cleared up the background noise issue.

I'm running OS 4.1.0.346.

I'm not having a problem transmitting background noise. It's more about having a difficult time hearing people, especially when there is background noise.

Right, well you could try an OS upgrade to see if that helps. I'm currently running 4.1.351 and have no problems with noise of any kind when I'm talking on the BB.

There are two upgrades for the 7130 that you could try in that list.

After you download and install the file, open desktop manager and double-click application loader icon. Depending on the version on handheld OS, you might have to download the latest desktop manager.
