Turning off the key sounds when phone-dialing this seems crazy for someone who prides himself on being at least partially BB-savvy, but i cant figure out for the life of me how to turn off the sound when dialing a phone number. even when i'm in vibrate mode (and even with the keypad tone option to off) i cant figure out how to turn of the sound when i'm dialing numbers. any ideas?? |
I agree, I've had my 8703e since it was first released with Verizon and then moved over to Sprint and I don't believe you can turn off the keytones when dialing a phone number. It is rather loud and annoying. |
Unfortunately you can't turn off the key tones when dialing a number. |
Yeah... I escalated this issue thru the ranks of VZW WDTS, and eventually with RIM. RIM's answer: The only 2 ways to do it are to a) dial from a pre-existing phonebook entry, or b) connect a wired headset to the headset jack (this will simply redirect the obnoxious tones into the headset instead of out of the speaker). Both 'solutions' are unacceptable IMO |
For clarification purposes, the sound only occurs when dialing a new number? if im browsing, texting, or dialing a contact from my phone, it will not beep? |
It only beeps when dialing a number in the phone call screen. Text messages are as quiet as your fingers. |
Think about it...... How will the carrier know what number you are calling if you don't send it the DTMF tones? |

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8703e (VZW): BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105) As I mentioned in another thread, there is a way to dial a "one-time" number silently; simply type it into a memo, scroll the cursor over it, click the wheel and select "dial" from the menu. Not exactly convenient, but works in situations where its very important to be quiet ;) |
