Default Syncing Personal Contacts & Calendar to a Blackberry using BES for E-Mail

Please Login to Remove!

Just wanted to let everyone know that after much research I figured out how to sync my personal calendar and contacts (from Outlook on my home PC) to a Blackberry that uses BES for corporate e-mail. I have a calendar and contact list on my work computer (synced to BES) that are on the computer only -- they do not sync to my blackberry -- instead I have the personal calendar and contacts.

To set this up: turn off wireless sync for the calendar and contacts on your blackberry. Install the blackberry desktop software onto your home PC, BUT choose 'Internet Sync' when the installation program asks how you sync your blackberry. Otherwise it will override your corporate settings for e-mail, etc.. Then go into the 'synchronize settings' on the desktop software and check the boxes for calendar and contacts only. Now, when you plug the blackberry into the computer using a USB cable, it will only sync the calendar and contacts. E-mail and the rest will continue to be linked to BES. This is the setup I wanted (so that caller ID uses my home contact list and not just the corporate directory) but was unable to figure out how to do for awhile.

Good luck to everyone else!
