Actually it might be a good idea to do it so that you get comfortable with it. See my tips doc for instructions. Pay attention to the be patient part.

yes, upgrade. The latest bharti in my opinion is the best OS out there.

..if you aren't having problems now, though... why not wait?

I found Bharti to be more responsive and my BlackBerry ran a but quicker. If you're fine with your current OS and have experienced no issues then stick with it. If you feel a newer OS may solve any quirks or issues you may have currently then upgrade. I really like the Bharti OS and you have nothing to lose by upgrading to it. If you don't like it then you can always roll back your OS.

I must be a goof...I did exactly what was said in Stinsonddogs instructions to the letter...and when I went to plug it back in, the desktop manager just sync the device and did not perform any type of upgrade...any help would be appreciated. I have an 8700c.

The only thing different that I can think of is that I am running desktop 4.2

Did you remove the vendor.xml file? If you didn't that would prevent the upgrade to start if you're trying to install an OS from another carrier.

5. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete or rename Vendor.xml

OK...I figured it out before stinsonddog gave me the same answer. Turns out I missed the vendor deletion step...it kinda blended in on the page so my bad.

anyway, seems to work now

i guess i will have to play with it for a while

thanks all again

rob

for those of you that may be deciding like I was...it may be worth it to take the plunge. I being an engineer in my past life, have to tinker so it was a no brainer...just wanted to see what others thought...I was going to take the plunge either way.

Thats a good question...my guess is that it will only because I see a verizon theme now in the software...but I will hold back and let a verzion user be the definitive answer.
