Default 7100g Battery Cover Issue

Please Login to Remove!

This is a bit of a nitpick, but I have a very slight bit of play in the battery cover of my 7100g. It just moves ever so slightly downward and then upward (in the direction it would move if you were reomving the cover, and them sliding it back into place). Has anyone else experienced this? Is it "normal?" I know it is a small issue, but it annoys me.

Mine actually moves a little bit side to side at the top, near the speaker. I find this incredibly annoying. Maybe I am too quirky. I am within Cingular's 30 day return period, so I could swap it I suppose. But I'd like to know if this is normal. Thanks.

Just got my 7100g last Monday and immediately noticed the same thing and, you're right, that little bit of "play" is annoying. I put a piece of scotch tape over the seam below the speaker on the rear. I guess that is better than having a battery cover that is nearly impossible to get off.

Don't bother... They all seem to be that way.

I cured the problem. Here is what I did.

I opened the cover and removed the battery. Then, I placed a small piece of scotch tape on the edge, just beneath the uppermost slot on the right, so that the top tab could still slide into place. I had the wide Scotch tape (this is a precise procedure) and the bottom portion was just above the next slot down (mine actually covered the oppermost section of that slot). I then ran the tape under where the battery would go, and, using a small pocket knife (a little rosewood Swiss Army knife, to be specific), I pressed the tape down so it molded with the angles of the device. I made sure that none of the tape extended over the outer edge, so that when the cover was replaced I would not see the tape. I then repeated the procedure with the other side, replaced the battery, and then replaced the cover.

Problem solved. The cover now fits securely and there is no more wiggle in it.

I just took one of my business cards, cut it in half and laid it right on the battery and put the cover back on. Works like a charm

Excellent solution!! I just tried it and it works great!

Just goes to show that often the best solutions are the simplest.

Five of the 40 7230's we just bought had the same problem, but we were able to replace them without a hassle.

I just did the business card mod and it worked fine. No more movement. While I agree that this is a PITA, but it's not the end of the world.

Business card mod works on the 7100t as well added benefit of contact info with phone if your able to keep it when cutting it to fit.
