Default 8703e, Verizon, and online ESN Swap

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

I'm posting this in this forum because the 8703e is one of the few (if not only) CDMA Blackberry.

GSM Blackberry users can swap SIMs with other phones whenever they please so if they want to have a small, mobile phone for home or weekend use, they can, and then swap back to the Blackberry during the week.

Does the online ESN changer on Verizon's site let you do this with a Blackberry on your plan? I've read of people doing it with the Windows Mobile devices without a problem (the data plan stays active), but there are other features that are added when you have a Blackberry (the Blackberry Provision, for example).

Has anyone done this successfully? I don't always want to carry the Crackberry around, especially on weekends or when out with friends. I don't want to be anti-social lol.

I have used the VZWs online. It has always worked with my other phones but never with the BB. But I had only tried it the first weekend I had the BB.

I log into VZW's site all the time and swap ESN's works like a champ. After you enter new ESN, on the new device pres *228 done.

As far as I know, it will not work going from a blackberry device to a regular phone or the reverse. Only going from one BB to another BB or from a regular phone to a regular phone. To switch from BB to a regular phone you must call them and have them do it for you, which is easy, but they charge you a fee (I think it's $15).

VXW always waves the fee if you tell them that you tried to do it online and you received the message to call cs.

Default Does ESN change suspend message delivery?

1. As I understand above, the VZW online ESN changer may not work to move my voice service from my 8703 to my old handset. (That's too bad, our corp rep told me it would). However, CS will generally waive the charge if I try to change online first.

2. When I do an ESN change from my 8703 to my old Nokia handset, will email still go to my BBerry, or will the ESN change suspend data service to the berry?
