The light sensor is located in the front screen. If you block it or cover it, it will not change.

stays on as in stays on forever?

are you sure you just didn't set your screen backlighting to stay on for "2 MIN"..it might look like it is staying for a long time....

Options --- Screen/Keyboard settings -- Backlight Time Out can be set to different times.

Sometimes the obvious isn't as obvious as you think it is. I have missed stuff like that...

On a side note. I use Telenav on my BB 8700. When I set up the program, there is a setting to keep the Backlighting on all the time that the program is runnning so that you can navigate at night and not worry about the screen going dark.

I was wondering if there is another program such as this that is running in the background that is keep the screen lite
