i am trying to make Address Book be opened by either of my Convenience Keys and for some reason that application doesn't show up in the Convenience Key list. it does on my friends phone which is weird. has anyone run into this?

What version of the OS are you running?

Go into Options>Screen-Keyboard>scroll down to Conv. Key Opens and select an option. Should work...

Re-read his post, he's quite aware of what the process is.

Thanks for responding to my question! i actually have version 4.1.0.284. how do i get the newest version onto my 8700g? i found a website that has the newest version but i have a Mac and can't transfer it via computer. is there someway to download it from the actual phone?

You can not download as new OS for your phone via your device. Do you have a firned who has a PC with Windows?

i suppose i could go back to the store to where i got it and they could do it for me. do you know if i would lose my applications, etc.

Another reason to own a pc.
you will unless you have everything backed up. The store pc may not want to and you may not want to have your personal data left there.
OTA applications should be easy but ones that load via the desktop manager wont be there unless the store did all the work for you originally.
