Default Frustrated!

I am a newbie, this may or may not be the appropriate forum to post, and for that matter this question may have already been answered a million times...so please forgive me, but I need help!

I have a t-mobile 8700g and love it. there is only one downfall with its email capabilities for me. i work at a small business and we don't have a blackberry enterprise server, so instead i use the blackberry internet service through t-mobile. it's great, but the only issue is my email syncing. and that's a big issue!

i have a Gmail account. i know Gmail recently introduced it's mobile app for blackberries, but ideally i'd like to use my gmail account through the blackberry native email system already built in, NOT the external Gmail program that you download. this seems futile though, as they, at least for me, do not sync at all. messages read on my blackberry are not 'marked' as read on my gmail account when i access it via my desktop web browser (i don't use outlook, etc. for Gmail when i access it from my desktop - only the gmail.com website.) messages aren't marked 'sent' when i send them, etc. this is SO annoying. i have to admit that the Gmail mobile app is amazing, but it doesn't have the 'push' technology the same way that the blackberry does - you constantly have to refresh it, etc. my friends who have blackberry enterprise servers at their work love their blackberries because they sync seemlessly - something i can only wish for at this point.

so here are a few questions - 1. did i do something wrong, and does this actually work the way i feel it should (total sync, etc.). if so, please help! 2. if this is just not the case for Gmail, are there any email programs out there online (yahoo, hotmail, etc.) that DO totally sync with blackberries. i am willing to switch for this function as i think the BB is the best thing ever. 3. any other advice/ideas? i have heard that IMAP is better than POP - but to be honest i don't even know what the hell that means to begin with.

again sorry for the potentially novice questions, but i want to utilize this little thing as much as possible. thank you in advance!!!!!

Default Gmail Sync

I suggest you do a search: 'syncing gmail' in the forums and you will probably get alot of responses... it is in the right corner!

I haven't got my 8700g yet so I cant help otherwise.

I believe BIS only does push email and does not "sync".

Make it easy on yourself if you find that this is really important to you. Go to this thread:

The Hosted BES FAQ - Cheap BES/MDS - Wireless Outlook sync!

Hosted BES is the way to go and the only way for full sync, but I have no idea if you can work it with gmail.

On the gmail limits see my tips page on Yahoo/Gmail. Note this is a gmail not a BB issue right now.

After you look at those two places you may have more questions so please ask.

First off, you'll never sync email with any Blackberry but that's just nitpicking (sync and reconciliation are similar but not the same). You'll need BES one way or another for reconciliation. Check with the hosted BES providers to see if they can meet your needs. However, I don't think you can use gmail with BES. They can use your own domain.
