sprint bb as a modem speeds?
 

Im using my bb as a modem right now and I can only connect at 115Kbps. Not very hight speed at all.

I was wondering if there is a way I can connect faster. I can disconnect and reconnect and still get the same speed.

Im just dialing the #777 number. Is there a better way to connect on sprint to get a fast speed?

EDGE isn't very fast? If you want better speeds than this, you basically need 3G. I'm not sure if Sprint offers this, specifically, and I'm also not sure which BlackBerry you have. Plain 8700xx models do not support 3G, but only GSM and enhanced flavors of such. The 8707 is compliant with 3G, to my knowledge, but again, I'm not sure if Sprint offers this service.

Oh i forgot to say what bb i have. I have teh 8703e with sprint with support the powervision 3g network.

I routinely get over 450 kbps...I am also with sprint on an 8703e
I also have a sprint pc card it usually clocks a bit higher, but not much.

I get around 450kbps as well. Personally, it's fast enough for my needs, VPN back to home network, e-mail, and web browsing. I was able to download the 200MB+ Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 in about 30 minutes, not too bad.

How are you all setting up your connection. It must be the way im setting it up as it will only let me connect at 115k

I'm using all of the software available for download off the Sprint website for the 8703e. The only exception is I'm using Desktop Manager 4.2 which you can download off the BlackBerry website. Are you in an area that normally gives you full signal?

there are certain areas i get 115 but most of the time i get 460. it just depends on what area you're in. do you have 1XEV or something else in the top right corner?

wow you're way off. not even close my friend. sprint/verizon EVDO, EDGE is Cingular. EVDO = fast, EDGE/anything else = slow.

Are you near an EVDO-enabled tower? That makes all the difference. If it's the standard 1x network, it's not going to be very fast...but even that's faster than their GSM counterparts (for now).

I have full signal at 1XEV on the phone right now in florida. I may need to download the software off of sprints website and try to conncet with that.
