Default Maintaining GPRS Data Connection

Please Login to Remove!

We just started using Blackberry's from Cingular. Every once in a while, users of the 7290 and 7100G have to pop the battery to re-establish their GPRS data connection. Is this a known problem?

Also, I have one user that travels throughout the country. Recently left New York and went to the Washington, DC and Virginia area and the phone got "locked" into a GSM connection which meant no data coverage. Once he returned to our area I put his device next to mine and he still had a GSM signal while I had a GPRS signal. I haven't traveled since I've had my device so I haven't seen the problem. The only way to fix his problem was to pop the battery.

Shouldn't these devices automatically detect and pick up GPRS data coverage? Our Cingular rep said she advises customers who travel to remove the battery to get the data coverage once they arrive at their destination. Is this normal? Also, can we expect problems with International travel?

Thanks for any insight.

This was a known problem with 3.7 OS. Not sure if it affected 3.8 or not. We saw much improvement with switching to 4.0

Angry GSM only

I have my service through T-mobile. For some reason starting this morning, I only have GSM service. I tried power cycling the unit. I tried removing and reinstalling the battery. Then requested the latest service book from the BB web client. I even tried manually selecting the Network to T-mobile.

I have been using 4.0 since it came out. No problems until now.
