Default USB Port came loose, warranty ran out last week!

Please Login to Remove!

My phone can not be charged by any means because my usb port came loose and totally came out of the phone.

I have a 7105T anyone have any idea about what my options are?

My Tmobile contract is running out on Feb 10 and I want to move over to Verizon. At that point I can get a new phone from them with my new plan. Till then what should I do?

Where could I send it for repair if I don't have a warranty? How much would they charge?

Could I get a phone from Tmobile and then move that phone over to verizon?

I would really appreciate your feedback.

You can call T-Mobile and they will send you a replacement phone if your 7105T is less than a year old. If it is over a year old they will charge you $100 for an out of warranty exchange.

Thanks.. I might do that as a last resort:

Check out these two links:

DIY computers and electronics: DIY Blackberry USB repair

7130 Disassembly - BlackBerryFAQ

In the first link since he broke the pins off his port he needed to find another one. I think all my pins are there... so I will just open this sucker up and solder it back into place. (actually Ill have my friend help)

I tried to do this.. but I ended up putting too much solder on the pins. They are very close to each other... and the solder is not separated out enough. In other words the solder is all over the pins and there isn't space between them, so its all connected (not good).

It was really difficult to position the USB port's pins right over where they belonged and them have them touch.

I will try to take the usb port out again and try to clean up the solder, and try it again.

btw I made a video of the whole process.. it seemed to have been working for a second, then stopped then I messed it up a little bit more. I'll put the video up tomorrow on youtube.

If your contract with T-Mo is up in a month and you are leaving for Verizon, I'd just find a cheap replacement here on the forum or on eBay.

I am using my friends 7100 phone which has problems of its own (discussed in the following thread

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...t-working.html

I would still like to fix my phone, Its in better condition than my friends 7100, plus it will have better ebay value if its properly functioning again
