A really silly question...

My 8707V only rings three times when a call comes in before it ends the call and goes to voicemail. I cannot for the life of me find the option to change it...

And while I'm asking silly questions, I've assigned a tone to incoming SMS messages but no sound is played.

Any help will be gratefully received!

3 is the max times the tone will ring. You can change these options (to a lower number than 3) under your profiles section.

Forgot to add that when voicemail calls me back (Vodafone UK so it's 121) it rings for a much longer time.....

To increase the ring time before going to voicemail you'll need to call your provider. They can do that on their end. The max they can go is generally 30 seconds so don't expect more than that.

After many frustrating days fiddling around with my new sparkly 8707v, I've FINALLY figured out how to get it to make a sound when receiving SMS messages.

Go to Settings > SMS. Change "Leave Messages on SIM Card" to "No". Save changes. You should now be able to hear when you receive a text.

One method I use to get a longer time when ringing is to use a ringer that is longer. Some are short and some are long. Select a long one but in any case it usually goes to VM within 30 seconds.

Only if you have your profile enabled to alert you audibly in or out of holster when you receive a SMS message. You can do all you stated, but still have no sound for SMS if you don't have your profile set to do so.
